Ellie Morgan
is a graduate from Leeds Arts
University, and has completed the BA
(Hons) Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design degree.
She is
passionate about innovation as well as materials and digital design. Morgan takes
a lot of her inspiration from structure in nature and
as she enjoys the shapes and construction, choosing to work with graphic and geometric angular objects and designs. Being an avid researcher, exploring
trends and forecasts on an ongoing basis to aid the direction of her creative
output and development is key. Morgan documents the research journey using a
range of approaches, making, sketching, photographing and collating research
in to lookbooks.
Having a talented eye for composition, detail and structure Morgan possesses a
dynamic range of creative skills whilst thriving on the exploration of the
varied outcomes that can be produced from one material. The work can then be
progressed through refinement of the material, or taking those concepts into
digital designs. Textiles and visual layout are passions of Morgan’s whilst striving to
explore the unknown alongside combining uncertainty with techniques and skills
that have been acquired.
Working with
a range of media and processes and often doing so in combination, looking for
unusual ways to combine her skills, materials and processes into
work which is constantly evolving,
continually
striving to set herself apart from others. Making pieces which are practical,
aesthetically decorative and ornamental, this flexible
and fluid approach allows the work to constantly evolve and her skill set to
grow.
